How to Recycle Carbon Fiber Frames
The structural chassis of an FPV drone, typically made from carbon fiber sheets. Defined by motor-to-motor diagonal size (e.g. 5-inch = ~220mm). Includes top plate, bottom plate, arms, and standoffs.
Safety Warnings
- Broken carbon fiber creates sharp splinters — handle cracked frames with gloves
- Carbon fiber dust is harmful if inhaled — do not sand or grind frames without a respirator
- Remove all electronics before disassembling frames to avoid damaging components
Preparation Steps
- 1Remove all electronics (motors, ESC, FC, VTX, camera, receiver)
- 2Keep all hardware (screws, standoffs, nuts) in a small bag with the frame
- 3Remove camera mount screws and include the mount plate
- 4Remove battery pads and straps (can include or discard)
- 5Note frame brand and size — branded frames have higher resale value

Frequently Asked Questions
Are cracked carbon fiber frames worth anything?
Frames with cracked arms still have value for intact parts — top plates, bottom plates, and hardware. Single-arm replacement kits exist for many popular frames. Even fully cracked frames have carbon fiber recycling value.
Should I remove stickers and paint?
Not necessary. Stickers and paint don't affect structural value. Clean frames look better for resale but we accept frames in any cosmetic condition.
Do you accept 3D-printed frames?
We primarily accept carbon fiber frames. 3D-printed TPU and PLA frames have minimal material value but we'll include them in a shipment without issue.
